The Hanwoo Board (President: Lee Dong-hwal) announced that it participated in Asia’s largest food event, the 2024 Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival, held from October 23 to 27 at Hong Kong’s Central Harbourfront. The event highlighted the excellence and taste of "hanwoo," or Korean beef, to food enthusiasts worldwide.
The Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival is one of the top ten culinary festivals globally, with diverse brands from various countries participating each year to exchange food culture. This year, the festival drew around 300 brands from 35 countries, attracting significant interest from local consumers and tourists alike.
At the event, the Hanwoo Board introduced hanwoo dishes that pair well with wine and other beverages, appealing to gourmet tastes. The offerings showcased five distinct hanwoo-based dishes: hanwoo cube steak made with strip loin, hanwoo pancakes featured in Netflix's “Culinary Class Wars,” bulgogi tacos, tteokgalbi (grilled galbi patties), and bulgogi rice bowl.
To create a memorable experience for visitors, the hanwoo promotional booth hosted a traditional pitch-pot (tuho in Korean) game. The event attracted a lot of participation by giving away various hanwoo merchandise to participants based on the number of successful arrow throws.
The board’s president Lee Dong-hwal stated, “The Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival is an invaluable opportunity to share the exceptional quality and flavor of hanwoo on a global stage. We aim to continue establishing hanwoo’s image as a premium product at different international events, expanding its recognition in overseas markets.” (Photo credit: Hanwoo Board)
